Pat Cooligan
Professor Pat Cooligan is distinguished as the first Canadian black belt under Renzo Gracie, a testament to his substantial influence in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). In 2017, Professor Cooligan relocated with his family of seven from Ottawa, Canada, to Orlando, Florida, to embark on a new professional endeavor. He oversees a network of over 25 affiliate schools, demonstrating the high demand for his expertise and experience in BJJ.
Professor Cooligan possesses extensive experience across various sectors. He has taught Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to diverse audiences, including the general public, law enforcement agencies, and through various government contracts, notably with the military and Special Operations Forces in Canada. Notably, in support of the NATO mission in Afghanistan, he organized the first professional MMA event in the country, showcasing his ability to bring martial arts to diverse and challenging environments. Professor Pat has experience in all aspects of self-defense and is also a certified firearms instructor.
In a strategic collaboration, Professor Cooligan partnered with seasoned school owners Adam and Krystal to enhance and rebrand his eighth academy in Orlando. This academy now functions as the flagship center for his network, embodying his commitment and visionary approach to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The headquarters offers high-level training and fosters a community spirit among practitioners.

Adam and Krystal Gignac, founders of Grounded, are a dedicated couple initially from North Bay, Ontario, Canada. They strategically decided to relocate to Orlando, Florida, to expand their impact in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Yoga. Their commitment to excellence in these disciplines is evident in their personal development and community engagement approach. Adam, with his expertise in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Krystal, with her proficiency in Yoga, combine their skills to offer a unique blend that benefits both physical and mental well-being.
